we never paid for her gravestone
he said he would send us the bill
but it never came
long after her stone was etched perfectly,
down to the curves on the cross,
and it was well set in the ground with her
no bill came
i called a couple times
and sent a few emails
but he never responded
and ive finally stopped feeling guilty about it
maybe charging for an infant’s grave
was just too much for him to bear
