oh christmas time is hard
for all the reasons you probably think
but then there is this other one
it pops up in other times of the year
but this is when it really hits home
because i love to decorate
and i love to decorate with lights
and strings of lights as you know
get twisted here and there
if you’ve ever messed with a bunch of cords
trying to unravel them, to find the way out
then you’ve experienced the frustration
of untangling knots
but you haven’t experienced it
the way i do
because every knot is hers
every knot is the one that killed her
and every knot is the one
that i couldn’t untangle
and each one marks
a little bit of death
on this joyful christmas tree
