Let’s bring more babies home

FullSizeRender (57)

Every year 26,000 parents in the U.S. hear these devastating words: “I’m sorry, there is no heartbeat.”

On May 18th our family will be “running” the annual 5K for the Star Legacy Foundation, the premier non-profit in the U.S. dedicated to stillbirth research and education. We are active members of the NY chapter. Stillbirth is the most understudied issue in medicine today. The money raised will directly support Star Legacy’s efforts to increase awareness, support research, promote education, encourage advocacy, and help bereaved families.

We are asking for donations! Here is Team Tinsley’s fundraising page.

No contribution is too small! Thank you for considering a donation

No one should have to hear those words.

Let’s bring more babies home

i know her still

i never felt like i was meeting my children for the first time
when they were placed in my arms,
covered in that awful, wonderful newborn gunk.

when we looked at each other
it was more like seeing a great friend
i just hadn’t seen in a really long time.

because i did already know them —
we had been together for 9 months already
(with a lot of one on one time).

that’s what many people don’t understand
about having a stillborn child.

i didn’t lose someone i didn’t know.
i lost a child i already knew and already loved very deeply.

i knew her.

i know her still.
