madness

i’m actually not clear on why
we all haven’t gone mad
wondering what happens next
why it’s happened at all

philosophy and theology i suppose
have kept the guns unloaded

but how can we all not be carrying….

this fear, this burden, this taunting of the many unknowns
i think they dance up and down
like microscopic bugs on our skin

there’s just no getting rid of these things
no matter how hard
we scrub
